Buick’s new Avenir sub-brand has expanded with the addition of the Regal Sportback Avenir. ^
Avenir offers a pinch of premium flair for a little bit more money. Joining the LaCrosse Avenir and successful Enclave Avenir, the Regal Sportback Avenir slots below the top-flight GS model and the high-end Essence and is distinguished by a three-dimensional mesh grille, Avenir bades on the front doors, and unique 19-inch wheels with a Pearl Nickel finish.
Inside, the Regal Avenir debut Buick’s first cloud-connected infotainment system, bringing personalized profiles, embedded apps, improved voice recognition and several system updates. It also gets a Whisper Beige interior theme with Ebony accents, diamond quilt-stitched seats, embroidered first-row headrests and Avenir-scripted sill plates.
Those who like darker interiors have the option a Ebony interior theme.
On the safety front, the Regal Avenir comes standard with a number of driver assistance features like Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, LED headlamps and cornering lamps. Adaptive cruise control is optional..
Power is provided by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. of torque, channeled to the wheels by a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Avenir has been a relative success for Buick, with 20 percent of Enclave sales coming from the Avenir trim, while the LaCrosse Avenir is selling 70 percent faster than the other trim levels. Interestingly, it looks like the Regal TourX wagon won’t be getting the Avenir treatment.
